Wow!! This world of blogging is absolutely fascinating to me!! I had never entered this world until I had to start my own blog. After researching educational blogs on google, I am simply amazed not only by the number of blogs out there, but by how helpful they are to educators and to anyone else!! I researched the top 100 education blogs and found many sub topics. They included categories such as college, e-learning, education news, education policies, internet culture, learning, library and research, specialty, teaching, and technology. Though I did not agree with many of these blogs political views, being a conservative myself, I still found them extremely helpful and informative.
A history teacher can connect with other history teachers around the world to share ideas. A new computer teacher can ask for help from other teachers about what rubrics to use and how to challenge her students. The options are endless and it brings teachers together that can share not only their curriculum, but how to reach their students to make a lesson relevent. There are blogs on internet safety, education technology review, and tips for new bloggers (I liked this one!). There are blogs for health, saving money, and even cute animal pictures!! Blogs are beneficial not only for teachers, but for the students, as well. Students can use blogs to communicate with one another, to find out how to apply to college, and use the many resourses out there to connect with someone in their area of interest. Blogs are here to stay and they provide an avenue for anyone to not only write and express their views, but to connect and communicate with others in their field of interest.

Great summary!
I see you found one of the same websites that I found about the educational use of blogs. It seems like we as teachers should have already utilized the use of bligs in our classrooms. Now That I have learned more about them both through my research as well as what you have found I want to incorporate them into my classroom. Now I need to find out how to incorporate them in order for them the be the most beneficial to the students. Shelley, do you think you will try to incoporate the use of blogs into your classes in some way? Maybe they could have a blog that they could enter their weekly PE information into, like a weekly journal of their physical activities with reflections. Just an idea.
I like that you had to say!
I found a blog about every subject under the sun. I knew blogs were a big thing, but I had no idea that there are so many. I have read a couple of sports blogs before and didn't think much of them. This would be a fantastic educational tool. I like what you had to say, "Blogs are here to stay and they provide an avenue for anyone to not only write and express their views, but to connect and communicate with others in their field of interest."
Shelley,
As a PE teacher you have the opportunity to work with a wide age group. Which age groups/grades could you see using a blog in your classroom? I like Shannon's idea of having students blog about their physical activities! I can really see kids enjoying that. I know at my school our PE teacher gives the students a paper calendar where they log their daily physical activities, which could easily be turned into a blog activity!
Great Summary.

Hi Shelley,
That is a great point! I never considered using a blog as a tool to connect to other educators to share ideas on every aspect as it relates to education. Sharing information within a network of educators is a new and fascinating way to continue my own education as a teacher. I agree that sharing curriculum and lesson planning ideas helps to redefine our own lessons and improve where needed. There are so many possibilities within blogging that you pointed out not only within the educational community but also in all aspects of life.
I like how you brought up how history teachers can talk with teachers no only in their districts but also around the world. My district has several blogs set up to help teachers with the new math adoption as well as a Sitton spelling blog. It is an awesome way to ask questions and get feedback from teachers other than the ones you work with daily.
